Working one on one with a gentleman that has autism with the goal to enhance communications skills. I plan to achieve this challenge by creating art activities that require a dialog along with creating the art. The progress may be microscopic but it is a building block that grows every time we meet. Sessions are conducted at public places such as cafes. Also, Hands-on guidance through artistic processes. And discussions of art at Gallery and Museum visits.

Working simultaneously between two galleries, Paul W. Zuccaire Art gallery, and Wang Art gallery my responsibilities included; installing wall vinyl text, Installing various wall art; canvases, loose paper, and framed works, painting walls, and pedestals, unpackaging, and packaging art.

GALLERY INSTALLER/ GALLERY GUARD

Working in an art gallery from installation, through the duration of the show, and the de-installation has given me great exposure working with a team of people that has the same amount of passion as I have for art, to display artwork in a professional manner outside of the studio and into a public space. 

Duties during installation and de-installation of exhibitions: Being involved in discussions with the director of the gallery on layouts. Knowledge of different tools and hardware to hang work securely on walls and ceilings. Working with electronics such as; TVs, I pods, I pads, projectors, and media players. Painting walls and pedestals for the duration of upcoming shows. Knowledge of installing vinyl text on walls.

Duties as an art guard through the duration of art exhibitions: greeting visitors, answering questions, giving tours, guarding art, nd enforcing gallery rules to violators.

After the exhibition, knowledge of packaging and handling artworks of different mediums such as framed works, canvases, sculptures, and other mixture of media will ensure security to prevent damage while artwork is in the process of being shipped back to the artist.

The Fine Arts Organization is a Stony Brook undergraduate student art club, with the mission to provide an art community on campus outside the classroom. With the guidance of our art instructors and the MFA’s to provide us with their experiences as professional artists, they assist the F.A.O. in exposing undergraduates in different art environments and prepping art students for graduate school.
